On the April 14th episode of Channel A’s Table for 4, actor Jang Hyun-sung invited his close friends and fellow actors Choi Won-young, Bae Hae-sun, and Kim Gook-hee for a candid conversation.
Kim Gook-hee, who previously worked with Song Hye-kyo in the film Dark Nuns, shared her impression of acting alongside the top star. “We had great chemistry. Just looking into her eyes was enough. It was a short project, but it felt like we built a genuine bond between women. But… I made one big mistake,” she confessed.
She went on to explain, “There was a scene where we smoked together. After the director yelled ‘cut’, we had to put out our cigarettes. The ashtray was just a paper cup. When we both reached for it at the same time, I accidentally put my cigarette out on the back of Song Hye-kyo’s hand.”
Jang Hyun-sung was shocked, exclaiming, “Are you crazy? Were you in your right mind? You did that to our Song Hye-kyo?” Kim Gook-hee recalled, “I immediately asked her if she was okay, and she said yes. Fortunately, it didn’t leave a scar. When I told my husband later, he had the same reaction: ‘How dare you burn Song Hye-kyo’s hand?’”
Jang Hyun-sung jokingly added, “And it wasn’t even an e-cigarette—it was a real cigarette!” to which Kim Gook-hee laughed and replied, “I’m still filming with her these days, and because of that incident, we’ve become close—now, just a glance is all it takes for us to understand each other.”
Jang Hyun-sung wrapped up the story with a laugh, saying, “That’s what you think… I bet Song Hye-kyo’s manager has been avoiding you ever since!”
After a decade-long hiatus from cinema, Song Hye-kyo made a triumphant return with the 2025 supernatural thriller Dark Nuns, which surpassed 1.6 million viewers and outperformed major competitors like Hitman 2 and Secret: Untold Melody. In preparation for her role, Song Hye-kyo immersed herself in the character for three months, even learning to smoke to portray the role authentically.
